COVID-19 Update

BLS Crew hopes to launch its Fall 2020 season the week of September 21st. However, we are still waiting for needed information from BLS/BPS to be able to confirm details like practice and start timing. To start the registration process, all rowers planning to participate in the Fall season should complete the registration form linked below by Saturday, September 19th, and submit the required forms to the extent possible as described. We will share additional information as soon as we possibly can.

 

Girls/Boys Novice Program

 

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no official races this fall. So this season will be all about working on technique, and maintaining form so that we are prepared for the Spring 2021 season.

 

Rowers will practice in cohorts of 6-8 students, and either use the singles and the double to practice on the water, use the ergs for practice on land, or do running or strength training to maintain conditioning.

 

Unfortunately, due to equipment and COVID-related constraints, BLS Crew will not be accepting new Novices for the Fall 2020 season. We very much hope that we will be able to accept new rowers in January or February for the Winter/Spring season.

Practice Times and Locations

  • Start date is hopefully Monday, September 21st, dependent on BPS/BLS approval and registration requirements.

  • The coaches will assign all rowers to cohorts

  • Practices will take place on weekdays , 3:00pm - 5:00pm.

  • Rowers are expected to attend three practices per week.

  • The exact start time will depend on your activity so that we minimize the number of people arriving and departing at the same time.

  • All Fall practices take place at the BLS Boathouse.

​Registration and Payment Deadlines

  • Registration Deadline: Saturday 09/19/20 (if you wish to register after this deadline, please contact registrar@blscrew.org about the possibility of late registration).

  • Forms Due Date: Saturday 09/19/2020 to start practice on 09/21/2020)

  • Payment Due Date: Sunday 09/27/2020​

Required Forms

 

​​All rowers must submit the required forms as PDF email attachments to registrar@blscrew.org by Saturday 09/19/2020 to be cleared for practice on Monday 09/21/2020.

  • Physician's School/Camp form:  All rowers must submit a physician's school/camp form dated within the past 13 months.

  • Concussion Training Certificate: All rowers must complete the concussion training once per academic year. Instructions care here: Concussion Training

  • Safety Pledge: Download form here: Safety Pledge. Print it, sign it and return it.

  • Swim Test: Only for Novice rowers who have not yet submitted a swim test. Until a swim test is on record, the rower will have to wear a life vest during practice on the water. The form and instructions on how to complete are here: Swim Test

Note that the BLS Sports Clearance Form is not required for the Fall 2020 season. 

Fees and Financial Aid

  • Rowers Fees:  $300.00

  • Payment Options: Fall Payment

  • Friends of BLS Crew is committed to ensuring that crew is affordable for all students and families in the BLS community. If you would like to request financial assistance for the crew program, please send an email to registrar@blscrew.org.

  • Payment is due Sunday September 27th, 2020 unless a financial aid or payment plan arrangement has been made.
