The BLS Crew program is supported in part by rower fees but relies heavily on donations from rower families, fundraising activities, and support from alumni and other generous donors. Friends of BLS Crew, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations are fully tax-deductible.

Terence G. Dougherty Power 10 Fund​

Friends of BLS Crew President Terry Dougherty believes strongly that BLS Crew has the power to transform a teenage life. He witnessed this transformation in his own daughters Maggie '03, Tricia '07, and Kathleen '13. He has worked tirelessly ever since to ensure that this opportunity is accessible to all BLS students, regardless of their families' financial means.

 

​In crew jargon, a "Power 10" is a 10-stroke burst of power designed to push a boat past its opponents.

 

The Terence G. Dougherty fund ensures that, when a BLS teenager needs a burst of power in their life, the crew program will be looking for them and will have the resources available to welcome them even if the normal rower fees are not affordable for their family.
