FRIENDS OF BLS Crew

Welcome to Friends of BLS Crew!

Founded in 2004, FOBLS Crew is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and a proud member of U.S. Rowing. As the parent of a rower, you automatically become a member of our organization.

Although BLS Crew works in partnership with the BLS Athletics Department, our program is fully staffed by parent volunteers and relies solely on rowing fees, fundraising, and corporate donations to sustain its operations, which include:

  • Registering rowers and ensuring BLSA and US Rowing compliance

  • Employing a Program Director and eight experienced coaches

  • Purchasing and/or maintaining the boathouse, rowing shells, launches, ergs, trailers, boat trailers, and other equipment

  • Organizing regattas, banquets, and other BLS Crew events

  • Budgeting finances and  fundraising

  • Managing communications, including the BLS Crew website

  • Insuring and compliance safety trainings

The talents and skills of BLS Crew parents are vital to our success. When rowers graduate, parents do too, so we are always on the lookout for new Board Members.

If you would like to learn more about how to get involved, please contact vp@blscrew.org.

Likewise, if you have a proposal for how to improve the BLS Crew program, we welcome your creative ideas and solutions! Please fill out our Parent Suggestion Form and we will get back to you!
